Program Notes

Ethan and Jann are a fun duo to write for: one a percussionist who dabbles in piano, the other a pianist who plays some percussion. This brief exploration allows for both players to "interlock" their gestures, with the idea of it all being one musical impetus realized through the shared sounds and grooves.

Instrumentation:

PIANO: sitting on cajón. D#6 and G#6 muted with blue tack or equivalent

PERCUSSION: snare+4toms, woodblock+2bongos, marimba, wire brushes, hard rubber mallets, medium yarn mallets
