Sunburst

Program Notes

This work is a gradient of light, emerging at first from fog and shadow and growing to a radiant, sunny climax. Overlapping textures and fragments give way to a fanfaring melody, and the colour shifts from dark and warm to full and bright. There is no specific picture I envisioned for the piece, but there is an overarching theme of light growing in intensity, from barely being able to see it in the distance to feeling it on your skin.
