Flow State

​This is equally an étude for the marimbist and an étude for me as a composer; I've played many choose-your-own-adventure types of scores, but this is my first time writing one. Given the chance to compose a short work for solo percussion, I knew this would be my chance to give it a try. Flow State is a quasi-minimalist gradient of harmonies, shifting only a note or two at a time but undergoing greater transformations on the larger scale. The title reflects both the flow chart-esque layout of the piece and the groove that a performer or listener may fall into during its performance.
