Program Notes

This brief overture for chamber quartet is centered around vertical lines (specifically chords built with sympathetic vibrations in the piano) and horizontal lines (ostinati and grooves). The four players interweave and trade roles, creating a musical shape that moves in multiple directions, at the same time angular and fluid.
