Salutation Over Fractal Ground

for C trumpet and piano

"Salutation Over Fractal Ground" is a work in two sections, depicting how light reflects off a snowy landscape: first the moonlight, causing a crystalline glimmer; then the sunrise, glowing warmly and painting the snow with beautiful pastels. I play with ideas of colour and timbre, and model the shape of the piece around waking up peacefully and then enthusiastically starting my day.

"Salutation Over Fractal Ground" was premiered by Justin Reid, trumpet; and James Coghlin, piano at Hope's composition recital on April 10, 2021.
